HSP condemns CM’s attempt to Bribe Voters instead of ensuring 24-hour Electricity in Sikkim

Hamro Sikkim Party condemns CM's attempt to Bribe Voters instead of ensuring 24-hour Electricity in sikkim

Press Release: The Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) strongly denounces the recent announcement made by the Chief Minister of Sikkim regarding the distribution of inverter sets and batteries to 16,000 students in Sikkim. While the initiative may seem commendable on the surface, it is merely a tactic to bribe voters ahead of the 2024 elections, diverting attention from the underlying issue at hand.

Sikkim, touted as an electricity surplus state, continues to suffer from a lack of uninterrupted power supply in every village and region. It is indeed disheartening to note that even after more than four years in office, the Chief Minister has failed to ensure 24-hour electricity availability across the state. This decision to distribute inverter sets and batteries is nothing short of an admission of failure in fulfilling his basic duty to provide consistent electricity to the people of Sikkim. “𝐒𝐢𝐤𝐤𝐢𝐦 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲!”

The HSP firmly believes that the right to uninterrupted power supply is not a privilege; it is a basic necessity for the progress and development of our state. The lack of 24-hour electricity in any village or region of Sikkim despite the surplus is a clear reflection of the incumbent government’s lack of commitment and inability to address the core issues affecting the people.

This government first sold 40% of Teesta Urja Ltd. to the Greenko company of Mauritius and now working only to please their masters. It is time for the government to be accountable and deliver on its promises. The people of Sikkim deserve better, and the HSP remains committed to fighting for their rights and a brighter future for our beloved state.
