Lobzang Bhutia Resigns from SKM, Joins SDF Party

Gangtok: Less than 24 hours before Sikkim’s crucial polls, Lobzang Bhutia, the Vice President of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party, has tendered his resignation from both his position and the primary membership of the party. This move signals a significant development in Sikkim’s political scene, considering Bhutia’s prominent role within the SKM.

Bhutia’s decision to resign from the SKM coincides with his announcement of joining the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party. This transition marks a notable shift in allegiance within the state’s political spectrum.

In his resignation letter addressed to the concerned authorities, Bhutia explicitly states his intention: “I, Lobzang Bhutia, CEC Vice President and resident of Rabongla, would like to tender my resignation from the post and primary membership of the party.”

Having been the SKM’s candidate in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Barfung constituency, Bhutia’s departure from such a prominent position within the SKM signifies a significant change in the state’s political dynamics.

Bhutia’s move to the SDF introduces a new dynamic to Sikkim’s political landscape, particularly as the state prepares for future elections and political maneuvers. The implications of his decision extend to both the SKM and the SDF, with broader ramifications for the state’s political scenario.

While the reasons behind Bhutia’s resignation from the SKM and his subsequent joining of the SDF remain undisclosed, the impact of his departure from the SKM leadership is expected to reverberate within the party and among supporters and observers of Sikkim’s political affairs.

In light of these developments, Sikkim’s upcoming polls and future political trajectories are poised to witness a shift, with Lobzang Bhutia’s move marking a notable chapter in the state’s political evolution.
